Rockstar released earlier this week A huge free update for Grand Theft Auto Online. For the most part it focused on improving and expanding what was already in the game. But the update includes a new series of missions that cover government activities and conspiracies, and this new campaign ends easily. GTA OnlineIts most terrifying mission, surprises many unsuspecting players.
GTA OnlineIts latest update, “Criminal enterprise,” was a big deal, helping the game feel more modern while also making it easier (and more fun) to earn in-game cash. It’s a solid update, even Legendary OP jetbike nerfing And adding the ability to run the casino. when It really didn’t add up to a shitty semi-automatic rifle For anyone who doesn’t like it, it’s a minor blip in an otherwise great patch.
Also IAA (GTAThe CIA’s version) is fighting to stop a wealthy family from controlling the planet’s oil prices. Don’t give them too much credit, because they want to take the technology that families are using so they can control the price themselves.
But what I and many others didn’t expect was this spy-themed thriller full of car chases and shootouts with gruesome, horror-game-like missions that are genuinely scary and unsettling. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t played yet, so here’s your spoiler alert!
In the final mission, the IAA sends you to a bunker that was last seen “Doomsday robbery” Update. It turns out that the super AI that was developed and deployed here was not completely wiped out by the authorities when you raided it, and a rich family using a copy of this AI was able to control the price of oil. (Just shake your head and pretend (do it make sense…) Inside the bunker, the power is out, and there are “sleeping” robots with human faces lurking in the hallways and surrounding corners. They are the juggernauts of doomAnd they were left to hibernate here because apparently, the IAA is really bad at cleaning up its messes.
These sleeping hulks seem to breathe, or at least make a sound that sounds like breathing. Depending on the flashlight, these things sometimes make other noises and even rattle as you walk around in the dark. I even swear one of them moved when I wasn’t looking. Rockstar has also made sure that these scary juggernauts will be placed in specific places where you’ll run into them or hear them as you wander around, looking for fuses to power back up.
I won’t give any prizes for guessing what happens after you regain power and start hacking into place: shocker, all those horrible robot bastards wake up and start coming for you. But after skulking by them for 20 minutes or so in the dark, at least you know how many are waiting and how long the trek is before you escape the bunker. Fortunately, I had my giant Gatling laser gun with me and made short work of them before escaping and completing the mission.
Like me, other players coming into this final mission had no idea what to expect Many have shared stories online of How scary it was, one player suggested that they would have trouble sleeping now. Others have shared How excited they felt crawling around in the dark, trying to avoid the robots for fear that touching them would activate the evil buggers It should also be noted that one of the fuses you need to find Some are hidden behind breakable boxesWhich is a very unusual gameplay mechanic for one GTA Online Mission Many players have reported spending long hours wandering around dark hallways, desperately trying to find the last fuse to escape the nightmare.
I love when rockstars experiment and get creative GTA Online Mission Almost a decade after it’s release, driving around and shooting a few people is a bit boring. End things with a random one thin manThe -like experience is not only fun, but a great way to keep the game fresh after all these years. More of this in the future, Rockstar.
